Destination of the Week (1/21-1/27)

Zambia

Livingstone is an historic colonial city and present capital of the Southern Province of Zambia.

Mukuni, 10km to the southeast, was the largest village in the area before the founding of Livingstone. Its Baleya inhabitants, originally from the Rozwi culture in Zimbabwe, were conquered by Chief Mukuni who came from the Congo in the 18th century.

There are several reasons to give Livingstone a visit - including the great Victoria Falls, by some measures, the largest waterfall in the world. Its regional name, Mosi-oa-Tunya, means "smoke that thunders" - and it is easily the biggest draw of tourism for southern Zambia. You can also take a gander at the Livingstone Museum or go bungee-jumping, bird-watching or on a safari

Livingstone, small and safe, provides ample options for lodging or dining - and serves as a perfect epicenter for the natural beauty surrounding it.
